A small round fruit of an evergreen citrus tree, yellow or orange in color. Has a characteristic aroma, stronger than other citrus fruits, and typically sweet taste. One fruit contains 10-12 segments. The peel easily separates from the pulp. Rich in vitamins C, D and E, beta-carotene, essential oils. Mandarins are consumed fresh, used to make desserts, candied fruits, jam, juice, filling for pies and tarts, added to fruit salads and beverages.
