Cooking chicken breast may seem easy, but it often turns out dry or loses its flavor. Follow these simple tips to make your chicken breast tender, juicy and delicious every time.
Thaw chicken breast only in the refrigerator or on a plate at room temperature to preserve its texture. Let the meat come to room temperature before cooking. Never thaw chicken in water!
Cook the chicken breast whole without cutting it into pieces. This helps keep the meat as juicy as possible. Place the chicken directly into boiling water (not cold water!) to lock in its natural juices.
Once the water comes back to a boil, turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid and leave the chicken breast in the hot water for 20 minutes. The result will be tender, juicy chicken every time.
For extra flavor, add herbs, spices or vegetables such as carrots, garlic, celery, bay leaves or peppercorns to the water. Toasting the spices in a dry pan for a few seconds before using them will make them even more aromatic.
Another great tip is to cook the chicken in a vacuum-sealed bag. Add a few drops of olive oil and your favorite herbs, seal the bag and cook for 15–20 minutes. The chicken will stay incredibly tender, juicy and full of flavor.
