A thin flatbread with neutral flavor made from corn or wheat flour cooked over open fire. Tortilla is also called Mexican flatbread. Contains vitamins from groups B, E, H, PP, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, etc. Tortillas are used to make enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, where various fillings are wrapped, both sweet and savory. Additionally, tortilla is often served instead of bread with other dishes (for example, chili con carne). Serves as a base for pies, buns, tartines and sandwiches. Eaten fried or baked. Crispy pieces are used as garnish and thicken soups with them. Tortilla can replace a fork, spoon and knife for Mexicans - it is used to pick up sauce or hold pieces of meat.
