For the dough:

  • Flour
    300 g
  • Milk Căsuța Mea 3,5%
    140 ml
  • Dry yeast
    6 g
  • Sugar
    1 tbsp
  • Salt
    1 tsp
  • Oil
    30 g
  • Chicken egg
    1 pc

For the filling:

  • Parmesan
    150-200 g
  • Garlic
    4-5 clove
  • Greens
    to taste
  • Butter Căsuța Mea 72,5%
    30-40 g

Directions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm (not hot) milk, then add sugar and salt. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the egg, then gradually incorporate the sifted flour. Finally, add the oil (or soft butter) and knead until you obtain a soft, elastic dough.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5–2 hours, until doubled in size.
  4. Garlic butter mixture: Mix the finely chopped herbs with crushed garlic and soft butter until you get a fragrant paste.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 0.5 cm thick.
  6. Spread the garlic herb butter evenly over the dough and sprinkle with grated cheese.
  7. Cut into equal squares, gently fold them, and place them vertically into a square or rectangular baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  8. Let the bread rise in the pan for another 35–45 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25–35 minutes, until golden and slightly crispy on top.
  10. The result is an incredibly aromatic bread with melted cheese, a crispy crust, and a soft, flavorful interior. Enjoy!
