The original name of this Italian cheese specialty is Parmigiano-Reggiano, produced mainly in the provinces of Parma and Reggio Emilia, which are located in the center of its traditional production area. It is certainly the most well-known and popular Italian cheese variety with a long aging period. This product has a granular and flaky structure, making it quite difficult to cut with a knife into uniform and neat slices. The cheese has a fruity and sweet aroma, its color usually being yellow-orange. Additionally, when stored in reasonably suitable conditions, the product has a long shelf life. Parmesan is an irreplaceable source of natural proteins, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, and can be served as an appetizer with white and red wine. Pairing wonderfully with grapes and herbs, grated parmesan is added to salads and desserts or can be sprinkled over risotto, pasta, pizza, polenta, vegetable and meat dishes. Used in multiple ways, this cheese variety melts uniformly, transforming into a delicious crispy crust. Furthermore, parmesan can also be used to make breadcrumbs of the highest quality.
